A Selkie Sample sale is finally happening! This upcoming week, Selkie will be having it’s first ever sample sale. Time Slot reservations were available yesterday afternoon, and they booked up quickly!

If you didn’t get a reservation, don’t fret! Selkie mystery bags will be returning sometime this winter season! If you are going to the sample sale, congratulations! Here are some Sample Sale tips from a former Wildfox sample sale goer along with images of Selkie pieces. Enjoy!

Don’t drive yourself.

If it’s in LA, go with someone and Uber/Lyft to the location. Especially if it’s in a warehouse somewhere in the fashion district. Walking would also be a doable option, but parking your own car is a miserable experience that should be avoided at all costs. I’ve been dropped off by friends, walked, and driven myself… trying to find parking was the absolute worst.

If you do drive yourself… go early!

Try to figure out what the parking situation is like before you head out; and then get there super early to give yourself time to find parking.

Figure out the payment method ahead of time.

Back in the day, sample sales used to be cash only. We live in a (almost) cashless society, which is why the first time I went to a sample sale I only had about $60 on me. I remember desperately struggling to decide on which pieces to keep and which to leave behind.

Now sample sales are often credit card or venmo/cashapp only. Double check before you go!

Know the Selkie Sample Sale info before you go

Check out the different collections on the brands site before going. Find the pieces you want and take note of which other styles came out with it to help you locate them faster. Pieces are usually organized by size and collection.

If you’re going to get your first Selkie pieces ever, go have FUN! Seriously, everything Kim makes in a gem.

If you’re going as a collector; do some research online to find out which pieces are rare or even never produced. Check out different boutique sites to see which pieces are common (they will be on sale soon) and which pieces were exclusives/rare. Those pieces may even go up in value as Selkie gains in popularity.

Some items will be hung up on hangers, but most of them will just be heaped into cardboard boxes. A size might be written on the side of the box. Usually though they’re unlabeled and you just have to start checking tags to figure it out.

Grab first, think later at the Selkie Sample Sale

I haven’t been to a sample sale since the pandemic started so I’m not sure if it’s as crowded anymore. Especially since this Selkie sample sale has reserved time slots.

Before the pandemic, sample sales were really crowded. If they’re still crowded, grab all the pieces you like immediately and then decide on which ones you actually want to purchase later.

It might not be there still if you try to decide first.
